Meet: The Halliday founder Yvonne Pretti

You’ve seen our boutique, luxury holiday homes so allow us to introduce the brains and creative talent behind The Halliday brand, Yvonne Pretti.

Having worked in construction for more than 25 years, Yvonne’s passion for design and interiors combined with her love of world travel, quality family time and a desire to create a luxurious boutique accommodation experience which boasts all of the luxuries of a hotel with the comforts and warmth of home led to her launching The Halliday.

As anyone who travels regularly will know, true luxury is staying at a hotel or home where every little detail has been considered so you can relax, disconnect from the outside world and reconnect with those who matter most.

As a nod to her design and interiors experience, The Halliday properties all have strong contemporary finishes, bespoke touches and considered furnishings and accessories yet pay homage to the coastal charm of the Southern Gold Coast and the laidback way of life. In other words, The Halliday is barefoot luxe at its finest.

We spoke with mother-of-four Yvonne about The Halliday, what it brings to the Gold Coast’s accommodation space and her tips for foodies visiting the surf city.

People are seeking authentic, local experiences more than ever before when they travel. We feel with The Halliday, you are offering the luxuries of a boutique hotel as well as a warm, locally-immersive experience. Was that the aim?

Absolutely! We love the Gold Coast and want our guests to experience it the way we see it and live it while also enjoying a luxurious holiday experience with some cosy comforts of home.

The Gold Coast has really undergone a cultural metamorphosis in recent years but we really feel there’s a gap in the market for luxury boutique accommodation at the Southern Gold Coast. What do you feel is The Halliday’s point of difference?

I would like to think it is the attention to detail. We’ve addressed not only people’s wants on a holiday but also their needs. We like to take the hard work out of travelling so when you arrive at one of our homes, the little touches make all the difference from the beach bags provided to the luxury shower and bath products.

Our own experience of travelling has helped us fine tune what we believe will be a memorable experience for all of our guests.

Does each house have a distinct personality? How would you describe each property?

Different personal travel experiences have definitely shaped each home we have created.

We are a family of six so family was the inspiration behind Elder 1, which has a big backyard, plenty of games, bikes and beach accessories on offer.

Elder 2 and 3 are currently under construction and were inspired by our need for some couple time, so it is perfect for a much-needed getaway for couples. Hilda is a mix between the two and caters for couples but is also amazing for family beach holiday. William which has been our family home and holds so many wonderful memories of family and friends coming together.

We know and love a lot of the brands/suppliers you’ve used! Was it important to you to use as many local suppliers, artisans and brands as possible?

We love that we have accessibility to so many amazing brands and truly believe that most people get inspiration for the life they would like to create for themselves whilst on holidays.

Aligning ourselves with local brands and suppliers not only allows us to showcase local talent but also allows our guests to recreate it for themselves.

The Gold Coast’s culinary scene has really transformed. Can you share some of your favourite local spots to drink and dine?

Being a self-confessed foodie, culinary delights are never far from my mind!

Eating out has come such a long on the Gold Coast in the last few years and we really are spoilt for choice. Some of my personal favourites are Labart at Burleigh Heads, Rick Shores for an amazing view, cocktail and Asian-inspired food, The Glenelg Public House for the best steak in town, and my new favourite is Fig & Frankie’s, a gorgeous laneway bar at Broadbeach, where you can find me unwinding on a Friday afternoon.

Can we expect a slew of The Halliday properties in the future?

We would love to expand our brand in the future. Until now, our fascination has been with the coastal strip but there may be some stunning acreage hinterland retreats on the horizon….

Watch this space!
